What is Christian Comedy?
People will debate what is means to be a Christian entertainer. Does it mean a performer that presents a show targeted to Christian audiences (Biblical references, church humor, etc), or does it mean a performer who simply happens to be a Christian?
Many well-known Christian entertainers perform their entire act without mention of Christianity. Others have an entire act that only works in front of a church audience.
The distinction is really a matter of personal preference. If you want a clear presentation of the Gospel or a personal testimony as part of the performance, be sure to state that up front. Do your homework and make sure the entertainer can deliver what you seek.
Why Christian Comedy?
For church members, comedy is a great way to renew and refresh your spirit. The Bible says laughter does a heart good, like medicine. What better way to renew your spirit than to laugh and have fun?
As an outreach, a comedy ministry show is a great way to bring people into your church who may have never thought about coming. Sometimes people have the idea that church can be boring or dull. Show them that nothing could be further from the truth!
